In America, though, there were lots of competing manufacturers and the speaker builders used whoever could make the quality they needed at the prices they wanted to pay in the volume necessary. In England it appears there were few cone builders, so there's a lot of consistency in terms of an old Celestion, for example. ![]() The cone code refers to who built the cone, not the speaker. Ceramic magnets, having a higher flux density, are usually shallower, if larger in diameter.Ģ. A deep magnet like that with a bolted on plate would suggest alnico to me. I'm not 100% convinced that those are the correct cones for those speakers-they look suspiciously clean and dark for 50 year old paper!ġ. ![]()
